Gregor crowned at 2011 Tour of Qinghai Lake
Slovenian rider Gazvoda Gregor of PER Team won the title of the 10th Tour of Qinghai Lake convincingly as he kept the yellow jersey over six out of nine stages.
Gregor clocked a total time of 28 hours 40 minutes and 28 seconds in general individual classification. Polka dot jersey, which represents the King of Mountian, finally went to Abbas Saeidi of Azad University Team.
TPT\’s veteran Boris Shpilevsky took the green jersey for the best sprinter, while the blue jersey, awarded to the Asian best, was taken by Dmitry Gruzdev from Kazakhstan National team.
Gregor looked excited after crossing the finish point.
"I\’m ecstatic. It was a great experience. I wanna give credit to my team. Without them, I won\’t have achieved that," he said.
"After coming back home, I will tell all my friends what I have seen and felt in this two wonderful places, showing them pictures. I believe them would love that."
The ninth stage is a six-lap, 94.2-kilometer circuit race, which turned out to be a fierce chasing due to the flat course. The maximum advantage the leading pack ever made was no more than 30 seconds within the two-hour contest.
Finally COG\’s Italian rider Modola Sacha grabbed the stage title with a wheel-wide lead over the second in 1 hour 52 minutes and 34 seconds.
The Tour of Qinghai Lake was launched in 2001 and this year was the first time the event were held across two provinces _ Qinghai and Gansu.
